About Southland Strings Lutherie

Hello, my name is Gerry Gardner

and welcome to Southland Strings Lutherie.

My journey that lead me to opening my shop did not start like many luthiers. I spent three decades as a professional chef. My career took me through a wide array of places that taught me the importance of having an attention to detals no matter how small. It also taught me how important it is to provide the highest levels of hospitality to my clientele. 

I have been a lifetime musician and guitar lover.

Working to maintain my own instruments was a driving force for creating my shop. I wanted to be able to help others keep their instruments in top playing condition.

By attending the Southeast Guitar Repair Academy, I received my certification for guitar repair/lutherie as well completed the Master's courses within the program. Through the academy, I am interning with Barrett Culpepper, Master Luthier and owner of Southeast Guitar Repair and Academy. Under his guidance, I am honing my skills and knowledge to continue to grow as a professional luthier.

I treat every instrument that comes through my shop with the highest level of care and respect, giving it my fullest attention and analyzing every detail to ensure that the instrument leaves my shop at its absolute best.
